Instant Junnu/Kharvas Milk Pudding - Easy desserts
We have friends visiting over this weekend and was on look out for a sweet delicacy we can enjoy and is quick & easy to make.With the help of google search came across this simple recipe.This tastes exactly like Jun-nu (as we call it in Andhra Pradesh) or Kharvas. Originally Jun-nu is made from cow’s colostrum milk that is its first secretion from the mammary glands after giving birth to a calf. As we cannot find this particular milk often , try this instant Jun-nu recipe to enjoy this sweet delicacy.Lets us see the ingredients.

- 14 oz Condensed Milk
- 2 cups milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp grounded elachi or 4 large elachi's
- 1-2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1-2 tsp Ghee/Butter/Oil
- Firstly boil milk and cool.
- Take a bowl and add in eggs first and beat them gently.
- Now to this , add in milk, condensed milk, black pepper powder, elachi powder.
- Whisk this mixture well.
- Take another bowl or moulds to cook this mixture.
- Brush it lightly with oil/ghee/butter
- Pour in the mixture
- Take a pressure cooker pour about 3/4-1 cup water.
- Put the bowl inside
- Cover the pressure cooker with lid without whistle.
- Cook for about 30-40 minutes at medium heat.
- After 30 minutes , take the bowl out of pressure cooker and let it cool.
- Transfer to a tray and turn the bowl upside down, Pudding at this time would be wobbly.
- To caramelize the sugar, heat a pan and put it on low heat.
- Pour in the sugar, keep stirring and let it melt.
- As it turns brown switch off and pour in on the pudding and refrigerate.
- Let it refrigerate for 2-3 hours, serve and enjoy.
- You can garnish this with nuts of your choice almond,cashews or Walnut .
- Instead of Sugar you can use Jaggery as well.
- You can use any of the steam cook procedures to cook this pudding.
- You can server this pudding both warm or cold.
