Instant Junnu/Kharvas Milk Pudding - Easy desserts

We have friends visiting over this weekend and was on look out for a sweet delicacy we can enjoy and is quick & easy to make.With the help of google search came across this simple recipe.This tastes exactly like Jun-nu (as we call it in Andhra Pradesh) or Kharvas. Originally Jun-nu is made from cow’s colostrum milk that is its first secretion from the mammary glands after giving birth to a calf. As we cannot find this particular milk often , try this instant Jun-nu recipe to enjoy this sweet delicacy.Lets us see the ingredients.

Ingredients: 



  1. 14 oz Condensed Milk
  2. 2 cups milk
  3. 2 eggs
  4. 1 tsp grounded elachi or 4 large elachi's
  5. 1-2 tbsp brown sugar
  6. 1 tsp black pepper powder
  7. 1-2 tsp Ghee/Butter/Oil
Instructions:
  1. Firstly boil milk and cool.
  2. Take a bowl and add in eggs first and beat them gently.
  3. Now to this , add in milk, condensed milk, black pepper powder, elachi powder.
  4. Whisk this mixture well.
  5. Take another bowl or moulds to cook this mixture.
  6. Brush it lightly with oil/ghee/butter
  7. Pour in the mixture
  8. Take a pressure cooker pour about 3/4-1 cup water.
  9. Put the bowl inside
  10. Cover the pressure cooker with lid without whistle.
  11. Cook for about 30-40 minutes at medium heat.
  12. After 30 minutes , take the bowl out of pressure cooker and let it cool.
  13. Transfer to a tray and turn the bowl upside down, Pudding at this time would be wobbly.
  14. To caramelize the sugar, heat a pan and put it on low heat.
  15. Pour in the sugar, keep stirring and let it melt.
  16. As it turns brown switch off and pour in on the pudding and refrigerate.
  17. Let it refrigerate for 2-3 hours, serve and enjoy.

                                           


Note:
  1. You can garnish this with nuts of your choice almond,cashews or Walnut .
  2. Instead of Sugar you can use Jaggery as well.
  3. You can use any of the steam cook procedures to cook this pudding.
  4. You can server this pudding both warm or cold.
